I'm not an expert, but, did you check your materials and materials priorities?
make sure you're using the same materials in both wall, at least in the core, and check materials priorities, if they have the same priority they should join nice.

How are Your Reference lines? If i'm not mistaken, they have to be on the same side of the wall, in this case on the outter side....
