3D Document tab opening on default - Spinning Wheel. Cannot click to abort.

I have opened a file and the file opens by default to a 3D document saved view tab. Is there a way to not have it open that tab? I have tried to click to abort but I just get the pogress window and unsure how long this should or is meant to take to abort? 

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi.

Once the tab you mentioned loads, close that tab or select the other tab and close the file.
Whenever you open the file, it will take you to the last open tab.
