Read values of AC Object variables in Grasshopper

Hi, is it possible to read the values of specific parameters of an object, using Grasshopper? I've made the AC object accessible to Grasshopper, but it seems I can only interact with those parameters when creating new objects. What I want to do is read the values of placed instances of the object in the file already.

Hi,

Unfortunately this is an one way road. You can input values but not receive existing ones. My best workaround to get the values is to use an interactive schedule of the object with the needed parameters displayed. Save to an Excel sheet (sorry, no autoupdate) and bring this into Grasshopper. You can feed now object parameters with this values.

Thanks, that's the same conclusion / workaround we came to! Hopefully they'll implement it at some point. There also doesn't seem to be a way to pick and create objects based on the schedule - the objects need to be preset within the Grasshopper script. Much more limited than we were hoping.

Hello, i have the same problem when making parametric windows from an existing window object. Could you please show me how to get those settings to an excel sheet? Thanks! @derekjackson mabye you have the awnser as well! 🙂

Hi,

Youhave to setup an interactive schedule in AC for your existing window object with the values displayed in columns you need for further usage in GH. Save as excel sheet. Then create a script in GH similar to the one in the solution ( for the excel reader node you'll need the "Lunchbox" plugin). Use the extracted values as an input  to create your parametric windows.
