My installation of Archicad 28 is missing Classification and Properties files. How do I reinstall these?

What file are you opening?
Maybe that file does not have any C&P.
Open the default template, does that have what you want?
It should have the default C&P.
If so in the file that has no C&P, import them from the template file if they are the ones you want.

You can Export as an XML file just what you need from the classification and properties dialogue fro a file that has what you need and then import them into your new file.
Or you can just import directly from any other PLN or PLA file - by-passing the export.

Hi Barry,
I tried to reinstall a fresh version of ArchiCAD 28 but the installer looked like it was going to try to "Repair" my copy of ArchiCAD, which was going to change things that I didn't want to modify. There used to be an option of selecting where to install the application, but that has apparently been deleted. Is there a way to install a clean version of AC 28?
Thanks.

This is the "Repair" notification that comes up and there's no way to bypass it that I can see.

Classifications and properties have nothing to do with the installation of Archicad.
They are stored in the file itself.
A 'repair' will give you a clean install and will revert you back to the initial build (3001).
Or you can completely un-install and then re-install Archicad.
But there is no need if you just want to import the C&P from another file.
Re-installing will not affect any files you have but will reset your Work Environment and DXF & IFC convertors back to their defaults.
All of which you can export before you re-install and then import back into the new setup.

Hi Barry,
I uninstalled AC 28 and reinstalled it an it is still missing the classification and properties files. I don't have an ArchiCAD file version 28 that has the files, so I can't just export them for use in my current file. I really need a way to download just the classification and properties files, or the whole package that includes them. At least that's what it appears to me. I am trying to get the latest classification and properties files and I don't see a way to do that yet. I am assuming that it would be better to use the ones from an AC 28 installation. What do you suggest?

I did not realize that the C & P files were related to a specific file. I thought they were related to the instance of ArchiCAD.
Thank you

You should get a Template file that already contains the Classifications and Properties (these are stored in the files, nothing to do with installation as Barry mentioned). The reason for this is that many other settings also depend on the existence of those Classifications and Properties, including default settings for tools, saved Favorites, IFC Translator mappings, maybe even Graphic Overrides, Schedule Schemes, etc.
If you have a file that has no Classifications and Properties and you import them into the file, you will have to go through all those other settings I mentioned and modify them to work with those imported Classifications and Properties, which is a lot of work. In the default Template file, all these settings are correctly set and synchronized.
