HOW CAN I ADJUST THE "STORY NUMBERS" MANUALLY?

Come on folks...GS with all it's infinite wisdom must have made a provision to adjust the "story numbers" manually......please say there is a way.

This is causing major havoc on our teamwork/hotlinked files.

Please...tell me there is a way.

If not I'm going to have to CUT/PASTE all my TW information, story by story, into a new PLN file, then have to re-share and re-hotlink it....so please...tell me there's an easy way to adjust these numbers.

IFC from Revit can be a real pain when you don't have control of the export process. This is especially bad when the Revit user doesn't understand the proper uses of levels and floors.

It seems you are stuck with cleaning the model up in ArchiCAD. Fortunately for you ArchiCAD is quite good for this. Unfortunately it can still be a complicated and tedious task. The key thing is to make sure you do all the adjustments necessary in the initial import file before committing it to your final working models. Getting everything tied to the correct stories is the most important part. This is most easily accomplished in 3D. The approach I usually use is to filter the 3D model by story one by one. Whatever doesn't belong on the displayed story gets moved to the correct one.

The way to fix the door/window problem is to reset their reference to the wall they are in (either sill or head height as you wish) rather than the story they are (supposedly) on. You should do this before fixing the walls' story settings.

Thanks Matthew.
Soundest advice I've heard so far.
It does appear that I have a "tedious" task ahead of me.

A fellow local reseller technical guru suggested that I take the offending model story settings on a copy PLN file. Make the stories really far apart from each other......say 50 feet vertically apart, and then see visually in 3d what's going on with the windows.....one by one.

Sounds like I'll be stuck on this task for a few days.

thanks sir.

Well, the IFC issue has gotten 'sortav' sorted out.

here's what I had to do.
1. create a blank AC14 template file.
2. open 2 sessions of AC.
3. recreate the story settings that are associated to the IFC file (since this one didn't seem to want to play well with the other file).
4. Once all stories (both story number as well as heights) are setup right, then I began to cut/paste story by story from the "NEW" building file, into the "EXISTING" building file.
5. since I knew the "NEW" building file story settings and wall placements were done right, it was relatively straight forward to copy the components story by story.
6. Once the EXST file was then hotlinked into the NEW TW file, it behaved correctly.

So: moral of the story.
Make sure your "story numbers (uneditable numbers)" as well as the "height to height" and story height placement starting points ALL match up from one TW file to the other.
