Layer Intersection Group numbers

How do I keep the Layer Intersection Group numbers from changing?

Everytime I open the file they are not the way I saved them.

Do I have to lock all layers before saving each time, and then unlock them when I open the file again to work on it?

I am not sure that is entirely true.

I think there may be some clean up (if that is the right word for it) issues that you can not clean up with out using the layer intersection group numbers.

No. I think you are right. The clean up was done better by adjusting the wall wall priority setting.

I dont't think I know of a good use for the Layer Intersect Group Number.
you've managed to completely get my explanation arse-about-face. it's no wonder you're always struggling steve.

layer intersection numbers are required in order to accomplish existing/demo/new works.

wall and composite skin priority numbers cannot do existing/demo/new work cleanup.

that being said, there is too much complication and redundancy in the two 'cleanup' systems by design. GS need to work on achieving a better, more user-friendly system, not to mention making the wall cleanup actually work 100% of the time rather than the hit-and-miss sub-80% solution we currently have.

You can get what you want by other means, leaving all of the group numbers set to 1. Why use it?
you answered your own question again before you asked it:

Perhaps you did not notice that I am not talking about composits.
As I said before, I did not use composits. All of the wall parts are modeled seperatly. Stone veneer and cap, wall sheathing, studs, plates....all modled seperatly. No composits for anything, for reasons of materials take-off schedules.

I am still not sure if all the different metheods of clean-up are all uniqe and esential tools, or if some of them are redundant, or if some of them are just not working as intended.

In any case, it is only a small matter since there is always some way to get what you want and clean up problems are relativly few.

If all eslse fails there is always the Patch tool.

Almost a year latter I am still not happy with the way Layer Intersection Group numbers will not stay put the way I had them.

Why do I have to keep going back and changing the layer intersect group numbers back? There should be a way to frieze these settings.
Is this done with layer combinations only?
