I want to be able to see the Paperspace views (in ArchiCAD's modeling environment) when I do a File / "Place External Drawing".
Instead, all I get is the AutoCad ModelSpace view. There could be 20 PaperSpace views associated with the Acad model but I don't see any of them.
The alternative seems to be doing a File/ Merge which puts all the PaperSpace drawings in ArchiCAD Layouts and pollutes my layers with some other guys layers. Yuck.
Is there any other way?
Maybe this should be a wish unless someone knows a way around this. The way placing DWGs should work is just like how placing PDFs work: when you place them, the software asks which page you want to place and gives you a little thumbnail of each page.
By the way, to do quick previews of DWG's (as wall as several other CAD formats) I recommend eDrawings by SolidWorks. It's written for OSX and Windows and is free.

I haven't tested this (no dwg with both model and paper space content to test), but have you tried drag-and dropping the dwg instead of using the menu command? Have you tested doing it on a) a floor plan and b) a layout to see if there's a difference?

Doing the drag-and-drop method of getting DWG's into AC is my standard approach. Bringing DWG's with multiple PaperSpace drawings into the AC Layouts with this method does just what it does when you drag and drop into them into the AchiCAD modeling environment: You don't get any PaperSpace data at all. You just just the ModelSpace views.
As near as I can tell, there is no difference between the menu method or the D&D method and it does not matter weather you bring DWG's into the model or the layout: all you get is ModelSpace data.
