Switched 6.5-8.1 and having trouble w/ fill/text plotting

We have recently switched from 6.5 to 8.1 and some portions of the PLTs are plotting in greys rather than black. We have a fairly large number of projects that we still need to plot, but don't want to spend the time in recreating a new layout book. We have imported the .LAY files previously set up and it seems to work pretty well as far as format goes, but when we create the PLT files to be sent to the printer may of the fills are grey rather than black and text is grey as well.....There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. The same .PMK file will appear in two different layouts with just a layer config change and the text/fills will be different. We have tried everything we can think of short of starting from scratch w/ the layout book. Have changed all colors to black in every area it can be found, Modified the Display options in Plot maker and in Archicad prior to recreating the PMKs.......Hopefully one of you out there will have the simple little solution that I missed.

PlotMaker is WYSIWIG - do they look grey on the screen?

If so, select the view, and edit the Pens & Colors to make those pens black. You have to specify that you want your own pens & colors (uniform Pens & Colors must be disabled) in the Update attribute tab of the Drawings settings, then under the Attributes tab, you will be able to use the Edit Pens button to change the colors. This of course has no effect in ArchiCAD and is the best way to change plots to suit your needs.

Cheers,

Everything appears correct on the screen in Plotmaker.....This problem is not consistent....For instance. The group of .LAY files I brought in all referenced the same title block pmk. I made no changes to the individual layouts in the new layout book, but when plotted to PLTs the appear different on different pages. I have checked the settings for the layouts and the individual drawings on the layouts and everything is the same.
