The checker board pattern is because the image file (the .PNG file?) used for the wood - pine surface is not in the loaded libraries.

Add it to the embedded library or one of your loaded libraries and you should see it in 3D instead of the checker board pattern.

The Library Loading Report should tell you what is missing. It can also be viewed at the bottom of the Library Manager window.

File => Libraries & Objects => Library Manager

If you have that duplicate by mistake, you can go into the Attribute Manager, select the surface with (1), delete and replace it with the surface that does not have (1) in the name.

Then everywhere the wrong (1) surface has been used will be replaced with the correct surface material.

And the (1) surface will be deleted.

I think you can also delete and replace in the surface settings as well - I just don't have Archicad open to check.
