Like Graphisoft products, various operating systems (OS) have distinct cycles, which start with their release and conclude on the date specified by the OS provider. This article serves as a guideline on how we support our products across different operating systems.

Rule of thumb: Which operating system versions are supported by Graphisoft?

Graphisoft products, including Archicad, BIMcloud, DDScad, and BIMx, adhere to the support cycle dictated by their respective OS vendors.

Windows

The compatibility of Archicad and BIMcloud aligns with the official schedule released by Microsoft. Our products are supported for those Windows versions which has the mainstream support by Microsoft. Operating systems which are already in their extended support timeframe, are not supported by Graphisoft anymore.

Once an operating system is not supported by Microsoft anymore, we stop to support our products on these operating systems as well.

We recommend avoiding the installation of new BIMcloud setups on those Windows or Windows Server versions that are nearing the end of their support life cycle according to Microsoft's schedule as continuous updates for these BIMcloud / BIMcloud Basic setups will not be feasible.

macOS

In contrast to Microsoft, Apple does not provide a formal schedule or forecast for OS version releases and lifecycles.

As a general practice, we support the latest officially released macOS version along with the previous version. This approach aligns with Apple's general practice, which encourages users to keep their macOS systems up-to-date.

During the transition period when Apple releases a new macOS version, we extend our current compatibility to ensure a smooth update process for both macOS and Archicad/BIMcloud.

We also recommend that users consistently stay updated with the latest macOS.

Android / iOS

On mobile platforms we continuously monitor which versions of Andorid and iOS are most frequently used by our users. Based on this data and the necessary technology behind our products, we adjust our support to the available OSes.

In exceptional cases we might deviate from our general support policies. This typically means we support more operating systems than what we usually would. We encourage users to regularly check our release notes to stay informed about the currently supported operating systems.
