AC 25 Mac installation messes up Codemeter

Yesterday I installed AC 25 INT on a Mac 10.15.7 Catalina and Codemeter stopped working for all versions. After an hour or two of checking with the local dealer, reinstalling Codemeter and License Manager, and restarts, things started working again. Today I installed AC 25 USA and the same story, only that I haven't yet managed to make it work.

When I insert the Codemeter key, the light blinks intermittently green-orange for a few seconds and then goes off. Google is not helping with interpreting.

I've occasionally had this problem with AC24 and Mac OS10.14 Mojave when moving the dongle between computers. Removing the dongle, then reinserting, so the light only blinks once, solves it. I think I saw the dongle show up on the desktop as a drive with the multiple light blinking, so I guessed it was being seen as a storage device.

Thank you very much for your report and I am very sorry to hear about the issue!

Starting with Codemeter 7.20, it no longer accepts Hardware keys configured as KEXT. The keys need to be converted into HID. Yesterday, we just solved this same issue with another client: Hardware keys no longer work after installing Archicad 25. After we converted the key to HID, it can now work properly. Please have a look at the article here and please find the converter here.

I'm not sure whether this is the same issue as what you experienced? If that's the case, please make sure to convert the key to HID, as Apple will no longer accept the older interface starting from Big Sur.

Hi David,

Yes, your case is different. If the Hardware key is still in KEXT interface, CodeMeter 7.20 or newer won't even read it. At least in your situation, the key is still working after replugging.

If the issue happens multiple times a day, I would suggest testing with another USB port or another machine. If that doesn't solve the issue, then I would contact the local reseller for further investigation, as the key might have an issue on its own.

I installed Java, and the updater gives me the screenshot at the bottom, which I don't know whether it means that it can't find the key or that the key is already HID.

The OS does see the key.

I don't know if any of this did it, or it was mere coincidence, but AC24 USA and INT, Codemeter and LIcense Manager Tool are working now after :
- giving different names to each of the application files (Archicad 24 USA, Archicad 24 INT), so as to make sure each of them was getting Security & Privacy > Full Disk Access permissions (when both were named Archicad. only one showed each time in the list —maybe the list is name-driven);
- giving Firewall exceptions to Codemeter and License Manager Tool
- giving Full Disk Access (probably unrelated, but in desperation one shoots everything at it) to Codemeter and License Manager Tool.
