Public Views completely disappearing (TW18)

So today's TW efforts see all of my Public Views disappearing in the View Map.

This has only happened since a colleague joined me on a project which I have for the last week been working in by myself (albeit still teamworked).

What's strange is that they are still available in his opened TW draft and the Drawing Manager on my computer is reporting them all as either "OK" or "Modified" rather "Missing": i just can't see them, navigate between them or place drawings on layouts from the view map.

Further investigation and they have now disappeared on my colleague's computer too, however flicking to the Organiser (rather than the Navigator) and changing Public / My views temporarily brings them back.

It's either a very weird display bug that only shows "My Views" (which in our case is almost always empty - hence the appearance of nothing in the View Map), or something far more sinister with the ownership of Views... regardless it's having an extremely serious impact on our ability to get work published....

Anybody else experiencing this?

well a little further along the track and i'm opting for the "more sinister" version of events: clicking randomly around between 'Public' and 'My' views in the Navigator and Organiser brought them back temporarily but now they have gone for good and all are reported as "Missing" in the Drawing Manager. Shit just got real.......

This has also happened on another project here as well: we have copied their 'Public' views in to the 'My View' side of the View Map and that seems to be holding for now.

Pretty serious all up. We can't be the only ones this is happening to?

update 2: a solo project saved out at the time this was noticed and from the computer where they were still showing as available is also missing the entire saved view tree.

Hi All, this is a bug. We are not handling correctly the “my views” portion of the view map. The public views appear to be stable up to the point you decide to use the organizer with private views.

The bug is planned to be fixed in the upcoming update. In the meanwhile, please avoid private views. Best regards, kata

We just had a similar issue - a second teammate joined and all the views disappeared - attempting to save as solo baked the missing views out of the solo file. views randomly showed up again in the teamwork file - quickly saved out another version as a solo file and this time [thank god] it saved the views.

Our permit intake for this project is in 5 days, and this narrowly missed sinking two people days worth of work (and seems like it could have been a lot more if we had not just started using it)- feels like TW is pretty half baked at the moment - and this stuff is mission critical! Graphsioft please don't ship with bugs this big - or if you know about them (which it appears you did) send an email warning your users! I'm not sure how we can be months into the release of 18 and teamwork tanks the first time we try and use it!

Can someone from graphisoft please comment on under what conditions TW is safe to use right now, and when a fix is expected.

OK I think we found a fix for this, hard to believe it works, but it's saved our bacon twice now - simply brining up the view map on both the "Organizer" and "Navigator" pallets both set to "Public views" ... that's it everything magically comes back, and the views are still liked to the original layouts ... at least in our case it worked.

Normally you would probably not have both pallets up, but seems like they are actually keeping two separate lists of the saved views and synching between them - in any case i would still avoid using the drop down menu on the view pallet to switch to "My Views" - this is what seems to wipe the view list from the organizer - however if you forget, switch back to "Public Views" and bring up views in the Navigator pallet, and so far it seems to rebuild the list.

At least it worked for us - Hope it helps someone else as well.

Stefan

Hope this helps someone else - was a nail bitter this weekend with the drawings being due tonight!

Hi all, the remainders of private views cause inconsistency in the files. The easiest workaround of this issue is to erase all My View sets from the teamwork project before saving as a .pln and resharing the project.  As mentioned earlier in the thread, we plan to correct this issue by automatically erasing My sets when a project is saved as a pln in the update following the current September/October update.

Hi

Still appears to be an issue in 4020. Views disappear or can not be reserved. Also appears to be keeping two different set of views when saved as a solo project with the Drawing Organizer showing a different set of views to the navigator

When will this be fixed? We just got bit by it again - it's six months later and the issue is still unaddressed, and if anything made worse by HF 4020 as now my previous workaround does not seem to work. I'm kind of flabbergasted, and not understanding how anyone is actually using Teamwork with this bug out there. Is there a step by step on how to avoid it? I'm not following the instructions below - as soon as you go the the "MyViews" to delete them before saving to PLN they all disappear, and break the links to all of our layouts! I guess I'll be calling tech support again on Monday, but fear that i'm going to have to relink everything manually.
