3D Resolution Control on Layouts

3D views are often placed on layouts instead of rendered images. You can now adjust the resolution of these 3D views, allowing you to control image quality or the displayed edge sharpness of the 3D model.

NOTE: This feature is available starting with Archicad 29.

Here is how you can adjust the resolution:

On the layout window select the placed 3D view > Right-click > Modify Source View Settings.

In the View Settings of the 3D view, you'll find the Resolution parameter under the 3D Only section. This value determines the sharpness with which the 3D view appears on the layout. Higher values will result in a more precise display.

Recommended settings:

  • For editing, a low resolution is usually sufficient (e.g., 72 dpi).
  • For presentations or high-quality printing, a higher resolution is recommended (e.g., 300 dpi).

NOTE: High resolution of 3D views on layouts can significantly increase the file size of the output file (e.g., in PDF format) and affect performance. It is recommended to check the file size before output.
