3) In general, a "real" textured object will create a huge file and is rarely the way to go.
4) Use a material to accomplish this task (AKA texture). Technically Material
is the set of properties that produces the "look". Texture is the actual image
used by the material settings.
5) Start with a photograph of your desired surface, then look here and here.

7) As always, read the AC Help files and work the download TG tutorials.
