License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. LightWorks Bug?

Is anyone having trouble with photorenderings in AC12 with LightWorks engine?

We had a strange case come up in our office yesterday. Sky Object and Sun Object were placed and set to their default settings. No Marquee was being used. The building was pretty small and not terribly high in detail. Photorendering settings were set to Best, 72 dpi, 1080 x 640 and all internal light sources were off; sun, camera, ambient. Lamps were set to use lamp light settings. The machine was a dual 2.6 Core 2 xeon, mac pro with 2 gb ram.

After thinking for about 3 minutes Archicad would open an alert window with an 'Insufficient Memory' message. We turned all the settings down to the lowest possible settings and turned off all other apps but the same message would come up each time before a single line would render.

Strangly, the lightworks rendering engine worked fine after we deleted the sky object and sun object from the file.

Any ideas?

I had time to do some more experiments, and now I am certain: the "undersun" messed up my rendering because its light comes from 90º overhead rather than the -90º it is set for. See the images enclosed.

I also tried setting it at 270º, with the same results as -90º.

I used this sun in AC11 with no problems.

I think this must be a bug with (the Intel Mac version) of AC12. Has anyone else had this problem?

You are superstitious: Shake a chicken at it - that will fix the problem.

What other sun sources are active?

Look in the PhotoRendering Settings.

I'll try again with the attachment. There is no difference in these images except in turning the undersun on/ off.

I am using the "realistic sun". I also have a sky object. There are no other sun objects.

Okay.

I don't think of this situation as a bug.

From the get-go with Lightworks in Archicad, overexposure was due to a hidden sun or sky object the user forgot about. Probably on another project storey.

I am quite sure there is no additional sun. I went to every story, selected all the lights, and checked them all out. It is the undersun that caused the problem.

Here is the sun object settings. I also tried setting the altitude to 270º instead of -90º, but got the same results.

Those settings return this apparently correct result.

Maybe it has something to do with our particular model, which is heavy in its use of profile walls and has some other problems that Graphisoft is working on. I will report this problem to them.

Here's an exterior rendering with the undersun off.
