Looks fine in 3d preview window but not rendering "as" material I created.
What button/toggle/ magic wand device do I need to make it render like in the preview?

If you are rendering with Lightworks rendering engine, make sure you also have the material settings changed for Lightworks engine, normally we import the material maps for internal rendering engine which appear correctly in 3d window, but forgot to update the same for light works engine.
I hope it is as simple as that.

Still...doesn't look like the image I see in the 3dwindow.
the rendering is coming out "grainy" somewhat and the score lines don't look anything like the 3d window.
what other "button" can I select to make this happen?

Hard to tell from your screen shot, but is the scale of your material correct?
In the Material Settings Box the Texture tab has a place to give the correct x and y dimensions of your pattern

Turn off the bump mapping to see the underlying pattern.
