Let's see if i understood right....

for example, in maxwell site it says that there will be a stand alone version with material editor..etc..etc..

...it means that i will be able to model in archicad and export directly to maxwell??? without having another software like 3ds max or c 4d?....


if so,...it means that it will be a complete rendering tool instead of being a lonely rendering engine...

Having used Maxwell for about a week to some very simple geometries but difficult lighting conditions my impression is that the results are great.

You dont have to know a great deal of thingsabout lighting to make a good rendering. You only put the lights that are ACTUALLY in the scene and not 5-10 more to simulate light bounces. There are many nice renderings in cgtalk to see for examples.

The main "drawback" are long rendering times, but the results are worth the time.

I am going to post later some very simple examples. Not fancy renderings but to show how it simulates light.
I am currently doing a big rectangular room with everything set to white except the floor , set to plastic green material. There 24 spheres accross the roof set as light emiters (using normal lamps intensity).

I am posting the result as soon as it is finished.
