Does anybody have any information about maxwell's material editor?
Is it true that the final stand alone version will be much faster than the beta versions?

thanks in advance

about the mat. editor: nobody has any info.

about speed: nobody has mentioned that MXW will be a lot faster! It is not yet optimised for speed...They are working on bugs and C4d SDK and other 3dprograms. Speed will be better but nobody knows how much.. not even Oscar I guess.

The current state of maxwell is alpha.
The price is 395$ (60% less than the price you have to pay for the final in june). No download (this is not a final product).

And one more rendering with maxwell

Andronikos,
nice renderings!
Did you used the 3ds max plug-in? (as I can see, you are a C4D user...)

That's what every beta-renderer says... There are not many finished programs that can deliver a truly fast renderer... It's all about tweaking and cutting corners if it needs to be fast.

nVidia has now the "Gelato"renderer, which is something in the range of Renderman, but meant for GPU (hardware rendering using your 3D-card). It's faster then Renderman, they claim, but not an order of magnitude faster...
