The latest version of the plugin supports geometry proxies and instancing. You can get an idea of how this has been implemented from the manual - HERE.

OctaneRender for ArchiCAD comes out of beta on the 22nd July, so if you would like to pick up the plugin at the current reduced "beta" pricing, purchase it prior to that date. render.otoy.com/shop/

I Have not tested this yet ( & I would like to see it in action) but there is an exciting new implemented feature :

[...], and new projections and transforms for textures. These projections are incredibly useful because there is no ability to re-UV map within ArchiCAD, but it can be done in the Octane plugin. So textures can be scaled, transformed, rotated, and have cylindrical, spherical, etc mapping applied. The next version will hopefully have camera motion blur for ArchiCAD walk-thru animations. [...]

My apologies of not responding to this earlier - the email notification slipped by me.

Regarding Projection Mapping - in some cases (like planar mapping) it works simply by changing the Projection node type for an Image node. In other cases you may need to tweak the transform of the projection to center it within the object being rendered. I plan to automate the "positioning" of projections in the future. You can also adjust whether an image is repeating, or just a single copy, and in the later case, this can be used to create decals.

I am currently putting through a huge update to bring the plugin in line with Octane 2.0. Included in the update are:

- Camera Motion Blur - not complete yet, but commenced

- Displacement Mapping - Add displacement maps to any ArchiCAD surface - works incredibly well.

- Random Color Texture - to randomise the color of scatter/instanced meshes

- Normal Space positioning type for IES lights - so you just rotate the light geometry to direct the IES light, rather than having to rotate the IES image transform

- New Ambient Occlusion infochannel mode

- You can now combine HDRI lighting with Daylight lighting. A big plus for ArchiCAD users.

- Render Region - where you select part of the OctaneRender Viewport and only that area renders - great for cleaning up a specific part of a render which still has a little noise.

- Rounded Edge rendering - not implement in the plugin yet, but available in Octane 2.0.

- Network Rendering - this works incredibly well.....you simply run a slave version of Octane 2.0 on the other PC's on your network, and then the Nvidia cards in those slave PC can be used when rendering from the Octane plugin in ArchiCAD. This is my favorite feature of Octane 2.0.

The above updates will be available as soon as Octane 2.0 is released (in the next month or two).

Hi

Great video from Tapperworks demonstrating the new Octane 2.1 Render Passes available from the ArchiCAD plugin.

Below is a video produced by Jeroen Tapper from Tapperworks, and was done using the OctaneRender for ArchiCAD plugin. The original duration of the video is 7:21 minutes and is reduced by 'fast forwarding' the main part and deleting a few scenes at the end. The goal is not a photorealistic impression, but to give insight of the building upgrade sequence in an artistic way.

Paul plugin (octane render) + archicad = best workflow possible 😉
Congratulations for you effort to bring a very good render plugin.
Thanks!
