Rendered "Sections" in black-how to?

How do I get my "rendered in lightworks" section to come out looking like the model section cuts look in Archicad?

The objects that are in section I'm looking to make them "black" while using the "Lightworks" rendering engine.

They only show up in black in the actual PLN model. How can I render them so they show up in "black" using the Lightworks rendering engine?

Tell me what I'm looking at in your post....

a. The FLOOR PLAN WINDOW?

b. A rendering of the model cut horizontally?

I am asking because I don't see any shadows.... And now I question whether this is the most prudent method...

Can you not indicate "patterns" by either extra fill patterns or cover fills right on the Site Plan (floor plan window) itself?

You know there are IMAGE FILLS that will allow you to essentially "render" a plan with textures...

Here's a quick sample I just did from the LIGHTWORKS rendering of a cut plan... I chose red instead of black, but you get the idea.

Well, the first question I was going to ask was "did you use the Lightworks" engine? and it appears you did.

I tried setting the cut plane color to the actual material color and that changes it...but when I select "black paint"...it wont render it in black.....

I'm gonna try another color as well.

Is there any kind of "model display" option that has to be set?

Oh and there are no shadows cause...I turned them off in the lightworks settings.....that's why you don't see 'shadows'.

Does the 3d window (opengl) show the cut elements as black?

If so, it must be that your MATERIAL definition does NOT match between INTERNAL ENGINE and LIGHTWORKS..

Please note that there is a pull down tab for every material that lets you define the attributes individually between Internal, OpenGl and Lightworks.. Often, materials show differently when you don't want them to..

So first, hit the MATCH INTERNAL ENGINE button while in the Lightworks section of your material definition... Look at the PREVIEW sphere.. It's also likely that LIGHTWORKS add a bunch of REFLECTION which will send your rendering into the WHITE mode as the sun is likely high in your sky. Use the editor dialogs to achieve a more true black (for example, change MIRROR to flat shading or something like that.)....

If all else fails and you can save an ARCHIVE... I'm happy to take a look at it...

thanks sir......I'll see what I can do.

The PLA file....humm....that'd be nearly impossible to do cause the file size is currently approaching half a GIG.

OK!!!!....Voila....it's been resolved!
the actual "paint black" had a bunch of variables such as shininess, reflectivity...etc... that wasn't allowing it to truly show up as "black" with no shinning effect on the rendering.

So I created another material...adjusted all the parameters to be pure black, no specular, no ambient light...nothing and it rendered correctly.

Thanks all for your help.....man, what a chore.
