Rendering Stuck in Calculating GI or Error: You do not have enough memory to perform this task

I'm having issues rendering with CineRender. When hitting render ArchiCAD either gets stuck on Calculating GI or throws an error saying I do not have enough memory to perform the task. It is only in this specific file that the issues are happening. Could it be a problem with the file? If so how can I fix it?

If any other information is required I'll be happy to provide it.

Thanks in advance for any help!

It could be a lot of things, but for one, grass-effect especially is very memory consuming to render. And with high rendering settings even more memory is needed.

I am not using any grass and the issue is there even with low render settings. What else could it be?

If it's only this one project file acting, could it be corrupt in some way.
- What about copy-pasting the model to an empty document with default settings, and try to render. This would give us the default AC rendering settings, I think.
- Or maybe importing the model into an empty document as a hotlink module. That would be easier if there are a lot of stories.
- The third problemsolving method would the halving procedure, to find out there the quirk lies. Work with a copy of the model (obviously), remove half of the model, and try to render. If this doesn't help, halve it again, and so on..
- Or it could be a material with some accidental extreme settings you didn't intend to use.

So finally whats the point for rendering, processor o RAM. Which is better 7th generation+32GB or 8th Generation+16GB,...

Moving the objects in the file to a new file fixed the issue. Wasn't hard as there wasn't much in the file.

Thanks for the help!
Another thing you could try in the future is changing the Sun angle by a degree or two either way (or alternatively if you're using HDRI changing the rotation angle similarly by a degree or so).

I have run into this problem quite a bit and it's not necessarily memory related.
( I was able to render far more complex scenes in 3DS Max under similar occasions where Cinerender in ArchiCAD would get stuck).

I believe there's a bug in the program whereby if it runs into an error calculating the GI (with a stray ray or reflections off), the renderer gets stuck in some sort of a calculation loop during the GI calculation phase with the screen just white, or getting stuck on a specific bucket.

Changing those variables I posted above (and you might have to do quite a bit of trial and error) a lot of times got it out of the freeze and allowed it to render normally.
It didn't always work, mind you, but most of the time I tried it this fixed the problem.

I would always go for the configuration with the more RAM. In your example, the first option has double RAM, while the 7th generation i7 is only about 10-15% slower than the 8th generation. CPU speed increases have been very small in recent years.
