Hi

Does anyone know of any good tutorial on how to get those stunning rendering results I keep seeing in peoples posts. I made some tests with the photorendering, but got very poor results, and I can't seem to find much settings, I must be missing something, or more like a whole lot 😉

Thanx,

Thomas

Get Dwight's books either for Artlantis or Lightworks in AC.

You can search the forum for info and other threads with that info.

If you don't have Artlantis the LW engine in ArchiCAD can produce very good results but it is not as easy as it should be to set up. When I needed to set up standard materials for a client I found Dwight's book indispensable. It still takes some serious tweaking but without the book it would have taken me much longer to sort out.

I found Mehdi Blanchard's DVD tutorial "Professional Rendering" an excellent source of advice. It was written for ArchiCAD Version 9 and 10 and unpacks some of the complexity of Lightworks. check http://www.archicadtutorials.com.au

I haven't tried Dwight's LW book yet, but I know he rates Artlantis for the copper-bottomed job.

I have found the sketch renders to work very best for preliminary and schematic design rendering with OpenGL and by extension VBe good for dynamic presentations. My experience has also been that clients like the sketchiness and that the excess information required for a decent LW rendering can actually cause a variety of problems in the early phases.

You can combine your sketch renders with light work renders to get some impressive renderings as discussed here and here

Very interesting render it reminds me the results that you can get with Piranesi.

If you are insistent on working with Lightworks, I've produced downloadable updates to keep "LightWorks in Archicad" current.

Significant changes have occurred with material and sunlighting since version 10.
