Weird sun settings...

Hey Dwight,

Any idea what's up with this?

A one percent change in the Contribution to Ambient (CtA) is causing crazy color shifts.

41%-42% CtA at 65% white.jpg

...and even more bizarre... add a little color to the ambient and...

Note that the effect is dependent on all three settings (Intensity, Contribution to Ambient, and Ambient). I have only checked a small number of conditions but the point of the change due to the CtA seems to go up as the Ambient goes down.

BTW: This is not just a preview glitch. The rendered colors are just as bizarre.

Yeah.

It is a long time thing.

It is always best to keep the ambient contribution minimal.

Yet another whacko behavior.

Thanks.

Does the Contribution to Ambient do anything useful?

What it is supposed to do is mitigate shadow strength and reduce the chroma of the ambient light but i never could control it properly. Seems irrelevant in LightWorks. However, OpenGL renderings can have interesting tints when you play with sun and ambient colors. Haha.
I just misspelled "sun" as "sin."
"Sin color."
Everyone knows sin is scarlet-colored.
