how do I export from Archicad to 3ds max6 with textures. I've tried a few different ways. I can get the model but no textures appear. I ticked materials and the "write out archicad texture information" but max tells me "improper file format" when i try to import.

please help

I suppose another way to ask would be 'how do you export to 3dsMax'

What is the best way... preferably with archicad textures included.

hi guys
in this link you will find some plug-ins for 3D MAX that suppose to help importing from Archicad hmm.. it is a bit weird but it works in a way, as for textures this plug-in has an so called material replacer tool but exporting from AC you have to replace hundreds of mats anyway try it yourself it is free:

http://plugins.angstraum.at/archicad_wiz/index.htm

also check other plug-ins for MAX from that site

I have exported from several ArchiCAD versions into 3ds max and never had file reading problems. Only some minor adjustments to make in max, but the files could always be read.

Are you sure you create valid *.3ds files?

Can you send one to check? A small one, from a simple scene?
