Hello!
How can I create a material acting as a light source?
Is it possible to do it?

Thank you!

Yes you can to a certain extend. For the material settings see the screen capture ( play with the Generate GI Strength ) and an example like the lights I did under the garden steps.

Thank you Carsten!
Actually it was right that tutorial of yours that I was confused with, regarding the part with the light material
So I guess I have to orientate the model towards the West, so the sun can reflect in this material?

If you want to reflect the sun on a material, yes it has to be "in view" of the reflection. This has nothing to do with material acting as a light source though.

The Glow parameter on surfaces is just a postproduction effect applied to your render. It does not cast light.

It also increases render time dramatically, so you might have faster result applying a similar effect in something like Photoshop.

There are lightsources that you can give a shape, though. Maybe these can be used to achieve what you're after.
