trying to line up two sides of a cutaway . . .

what am i doing wrong? same camera, same 3D window sizes and settings (with the exception of 'mode), same cutaway line (done with x, y co-ords), same 'save-as...' settings . . .

why don't they line up . . . ? this isn't something i've ever attempted before, but now that i'm messing around with it i'm wishing that i still hadn't tried it . . .

I'm not sure, but maybe it's a zoom problem (hairline model is a little bit zoomed in)?.
For such cases to switch to camera's original looking point:
1. Generate 3d model in perspective view (camera must be selected on plan).
2. Switch to Axonometric View (using 3d navigation palette).
3. Then again back to perspective view (using 3d navigation palette).

Wich cutting out method have you used ("3D Cutting Plans" Dialog, Marquee (trim in, -out), Section tool (+special menu))?

the cut plane is created using the 'cutting planes' dialogue. i created the same line using x/y co-ordinates in the dialogue. camera was the same - it was selected on the floor plan for both shots. your perspective/axo/perspective again toggle didn't change anything either.

weird . . .

Ben,
have you tried to use a plan section with the special menu? (use it as 3d section)
I am not sure it will work but maybe you should give it a try.

Try render in Sketch Engine - Koh-I-Nor. Use the same settings for rendering size etc.

How did you overlay?

If I need this, I usually render the solid portion into a file, put it as a background, and then generate the wireframe. Fits every time.

But, the last time was some years ago, I have to admit!

Will try tomorrow!

Not sure, but Lightworks may shift a bit if the 3D window and the photo rendering window have different sizes in pixels.

Try and make both the 3D window and the Photo Rendering Window have the exact same size in Pixels

i had the lightworks window 'sized to 3D window', but turns out it's 1 pixel out . . . i can't imagine 1 pixel would cause that shift, but i'll try again and see what happens . . .
