You could do one of two things.

1.Free up some space on your hard drive, that works as the virtual memory drive.

2. Change to another, lager, partition.

THE.

Set the minimum virtual memory to three times your physical RAM.

Where is the setting menu that would allow me to change the virtual memory? Is it in archicad or in windows?

Scott ,
You will find it by Right clicking "My Computer" (But it's really yours )Properties, then by taking the "Advanced" tab -----> "Performances"-->"Settings"---->"Advanced"
You will finally find the virtual memory settings at the bottom of the dialog.

Is this still necessary for PC's with very much RAM? I have 2 GB and don't want to throw 6 GB of the Hard disk away...

I would "throw" 20GB away if that made a difference between having the rendering or not.
