in the floor plan window with the marquee in place right-click and check choose the option SHOW SELECTION/MARQUEE IN 3D.

The logic also as changed, from the old times.
Returning to the 3D window with nothing selected, will only show the previous limited content, unless you choose the "SHOW ALL IN 3D" command.

When you selected the area with the Marquee area and went to the 3D Window you can save it as a View in the View Map of the Navigator so you will have it for future reference. The Marquee cut will be stored as part of the View.
