Allow segmentation/3d resolution control for all tools

MASz

Allow segmentation/3d resolution control for all tools including beams, columns, slabs, walls, shells and imports such as IFC. This should be controllable either through selection settings, work environment and/or a registry entry. This will allow more detailed representation of curved elements which is important for any drawing that utilises 3d (such as sections, elevations, 3d documents) as well as for visualisation. Currently morphs allow segmentation to be increased, and some objects allow 3d resolution to be controlled. Current fixed settings can be quite limiting, especially when it comes to finer detail such as complex profile cornices which require input fills to be manually segmented to allow for decent representation.

Here is an example with the low segmentation causing representation issues for benchtop edges:

I would suggest to add this wish to another one which already exist and asks for option to create real curves in the model.

@Karel Landa,

I think there is a difference between this wish and the one you linked to.

This wish is about the ability to specify the segmentation (resolution) of 3D arcs/curves/curved surfaces already existing in Archicad.

The other wish is specifically about NURBS (freeform 3D curves, like the ones you can create in Rhinoceros 3D).

So, I will not merge the two wishes.

Yes, that's right. It is is different. As I understand, complex profiles are somewhat like NURBS already. NURBS still need to be represented as meshes in a lot of cases anyway with control over segmentation.

This is the window in Rhino:

Currently NURBS are used in Archicad through Rhino imports for instance, however it imports as objects rather than any sort of direct way to edit NURBS. It also allows segmentation control:

I 100% agree, the whole point of BIM; is to Build / Building Information to Model!

Then the Information is embedded or obtained within in the model that you used the information to building or construct items, objects, structures, etc...

I always so BIM is Hy-brid,  the beam does not allow me to control the resolution so the best fix is to be Hy-Brid "MacGyver" and use the railing or curtain wall then you have resolution to curves accessible and controllable.

BIM everything in the application should be the same / or generated to perform exported outcomes.  I should be able to use the beam, curtain wall, etc... the same but differently.  Again I spend all the time and effort to model things within the 3D platform, I should not have to used dumb lines, text, fills, poche', hatches to cover up or re-do what I spend time while doing 3D.

I vote for this to be as you are saying.
