Automatic North Angle on a Layout Sheet

It would be beneficial to have an object that automatically reads the floor plan's north orientation from the model and can then be placed on either a layout sheet or a master layout.

If the north arrow object in model space is hidden by a layer combination or located outside the drawing boundary, a layout sheet object should be able to read the placed view's orientation information directly and automatically display the correct north angle. This would ensure the north arrow remains accurate regardless of the model view's visibility and rotation settings.

you can place the north symbol object on a layout/master sheet, and have it follow the project north. it can't follow rotated drawings however.

The problem is you can have many views (drawings) placed on a single layout.

As the North Point object is just placed in the layout and is not part of the view, what should is show if different views are rotated differently or are elevations or details?

The object is best place in the view itself.

Put it in the Archicad Layer and it can't be turned off.

The Revision History Table is also an object, and it can automatically read information from the drawings placed on a layout.

Since this functionality is already possible, I was wondering whether a similar object could be developed for this purpose as well.

The object would only need to read information from Views generated from Floor Plan Viewpoints.

I suppose you could create object (GDL) that serves as a Drawing title and have checkmark to show north and with hotspot have it moved to the desired position.

Not sure whether it is possible but it could probably be in a way that you can set global coordinates of the layout so you could have a favorite drawing and have it always placed in correct location (let's say at least for few specified sizes of layouts).

we created a drawing title that has the ability to turn the north arrow on/off in the title, and follows the project north.

If for any reason, the view gets rotated, a simple check box, allows for the specific arrow rotation from North

If the Show North Arrow box is unchecked, It show the View placement on our sheets (A1)

this was our solution for the same-ish issue.

It's neat, but it still requires manual input, which means there's a risk of error.
