find and select missing library parts - only objects

find and select criteria for Library Part Missing should be available for all types, since more than just objects use library parts.

I think you need to explicitly select one Element Type from the list, and then the "Library Part Missing" parameter will be enabled for element types where it is relevant.

But I guess your wish is for the parameter to be enabled even with the "All Types" option and know internally which element types it actually applies to.

yes, the find and select criteria, switching element type for each element using library parts would be more tedious than just visually scanning each view.

technically, a better way (still not an option) to track down missing library parts would be via a schedule, since you could actually locate them project wide, instead of one viewpoint at a time. But "library part is missing" is not a schedule criteria at all... so thats shot down before it even started.

You can add extra criteria to include more element types that are object based.

Just make sure you use "OR".

We could really use parenthesis (brackets) as well, but that would be a separate wish.

As soon as you add an element type criteria for anything that does not apply to 'Library part Missing', then it will become grey and unavailable.

The same applies if you are looking for the complex profile of a mesh, they are just not compatible.

I think that is where we need the brackets.

So it seems my suggestion will not work.

Without them that is saying find any object or door or window or section or any elevation so long as the elevation has a missing library part.

Schedule criteria has the brackets.

I bet if you where to create a schedule and put all of the element types in brackets, it would work.

Only thing is, there is no criteria for 'missing library parts' in a schedule.

If only there was consistency in the way things are done.

Although I just tried it, not with missing object (as I don't have any missing at the moment), but for objects, doors, windows and section markers in a particular layer.

And the missing brackets has no effect.

The particular layer gets applied to each of the element types.

Well - that is a seperate wish! 😉

In Find & Select, every criteria is automatically grouped when used multiple times and defaults to OR. This grouping works like brackets.

Pity is: You can't find (Walls AND brick) OR (Beams AND concrete) in one go.

My 2ct: Pretty much a toy...

In Interactive Schedules, every criteria stands for its own and has its own line (and defaults to AND).

Pity is: You can't find all the '2D' stuff you can find with Find & Select.

My 2ct: GS doesn't realize the power of a 'complete project database access'.
