throw out doors and windows - try agai

The Archicad doors and windows are about the worst... they are nearly as bad as the old stair builder, in terms of usability and features we actually need.
Just start over. Cadimage has a lot of the features we need, but has it's own pitfalls.
...
some things that have come up just this week:
Q: "how do I set my sill thickness?"
A: "you can't. turn it off and model it with a beam"
Q: "how can I set the door position in the frame - IE centered on the frame?"
A: "you can't. Turn the frame off and model it with beams and columns"
Q: "how can I get a right triangle shaped window?"
A: "You can't. model it with slabs and beams in plan and save it as a custom window"
Q: "how can I get a 4 panel pocket door with doors all on the same side?"
A: "You can't. Each door leaf needs to be a separate door and then add an extra for the frame... (and it won't look great in plan or open in 3d)
...
I think if we filled a thread with all the features we need doors and windows to do, but can't without massive work-arounds, we'd rival that "why does BIMcloud have so many warnings and errors now?" thread I started about a year ago!
...
dont get me wrong, the doors and windows out of the box are great for the spec homes I do, or projects where there is nothing specified that they cant pick up off the shelf at any lumber yard. But thats not what most of my work is.

are these really the ONLY conceivable door configurations for sliding doors? I need a door with a center sliding panel and 2 fixed side panels... we REALLY need to model this with 2 or more doors?

There is a new object - multipanel sliding door. However, as with windows and other doors, it really all should be redone in some way to have more functionality. For my workflow, variable window is the best window there is because I can create one and just copy and edit it for most other windows around a building. If I use any other window type, there is A LOT of manual work on each single type.

There really should be an easier way outside of favourites, which I think is a really bad crutch for many many many problems one can have when creating a new project.

If we could at least select all different types of windows (or doors) and edit their common parts at the same time, it would save tons of work. But no.

There are no slidelight options in the US library? Though as a consolation, you guys had the "D3 Sliding 02" before we got the "Multipanel Sliding Door".

I had modified the two pocket door objects to allow you to define the number of leafs, but the library update broke them... Zzz...

gonna give this another bump... here's one from 4 years ago. something that Archicad still cant do, and even cadimage needs a work-around to get to work...
there are so many configurations for doors and windows, and we need a solution that doesn't involve LPM (a 100% non-parametric solution), that can account for more than what we have, without the need for hundreds of unique disconnected library parts

Looking at the US top level door objects, I cannot see why they exists... They seem to only exist so that you have an independant object to schedule as they just directly call the door type... The INT top level door objects on the otherhand toggle all of the different door parts to form up the door type, so if you can add an remove parts are required if your combination is not available be default.
