The new BIMx seems to have eliminated the "Fly" option! Who else finds it impossible to navigate through the models now? Suggestions as to how to navigate, I have trouble with the key board approach and the joystick.

No, it's not gone. 🙂 The update includes simplified navigation rules and additional customizations.
The Orbit camera mode (fly) is automatically activated when you move outside the 3D model's bounding box. This automatism is called Adaptive rotation. Previously, Mesh and Slab elements were exceptions, which didn't always result in the most intuitive controls. As of the latest versions you can enable manual orbit/rotate mode by switching off Adaptive rotation, see Navigation in BIMx article.
Do these changes help provide convenient navigation? Is there anything you need to navigate in BIMx better?

Hi @Roland Szabo,
Thanks for the latest updates in BIMx, really the best added feature is fit in window by double click on the screen.
I’m not sure if it was added earlier but I like it.

Update: In Walk mode, rotate the camera with your other hand; see the article. BIMx now has a two-hand control if the joystick is on.
We replaced the one-hand joystick because touch screens are not that small today, and people usually use the device with two hands. Separating movement and rotation provides a convenient, more precise movement. This is the current global standard, used by many other 3D apps. Landscape orientation is recommended.
If you still experience any issues, please let us know here, or send us a Feedback mail from the app's "..." menu and attach a screen recording to better understand the issue. We'll do our best to help you!

I really HATE the change to the walk-through navigation. You used to be able to move forward and turn with a single finger. That method of navigation was simple, intuitive and effective. Now moving and turning requires two hands, which is awkward and unintuitive.
I don't see why anyone at Graphisoft thought this change was an improvement.

This was an EXTREMELY bad decision. Why is using two hands better than one?

Agreed.

Navigation does not work in cardboard VR mode due to this change. Unless I am missing something

Navigation is unchanged in cardboard VR mode on iOS as far as I can tell - I just checked my BIMx app.
I hope to heaven Graphisoft doesn't decide to dump Cardboard VR now that Google no longer owns it... It's a vital presentation technique for me as it allows me to give clients an immersive experience by giving them some instruction and a $20 viewer. If they start requiring an Oculus or similar tech costing hundreds of dollars a pop it's going to be really difficult to explore designs at leisure after they have left my office.
