From what I've seen there is a lot more to it under the hood. Personally I think the underlying changes could be game changing. I guess we'll see.
The need to improve is driven by the competition getting better. The latest version of AllPlan Architecture appears to be more of a competitor now because of its improved interface and more obvious workflow: http://www.allplan2009.com/en/quickstart

It really needs to be nothing short of game changing. Of the few changes and features introduced in V12, I find I use a very small number of them (better detail linking and the 3D document tool being the only real wins for me). The result of this is twofold:
1. The few improvements I used came at a high cost ($600 for two features, one of which should have been in V11 is pretty lousy value)
2. The competition, principally Revit, used the time to make good strides even with the Ribbon controversy.
GS needs to do some leapfrogging or they will die on the lilly pad.

The renderings are terrific. What a shame that the houses are so old fashioned! I'd love to see the renderings applied to something designed for this century.

BTW you probably missed this statement on their website:
