I wonder how many ArchiCAD users really need/use the calculation menu.
I myself ,although i know how to use it (it took me 2 days to learn it), i have never really need it or ,even more, use it.
We, too, use it in our office regularly.
I actually wrote custom Listing Templates (TXT files) to fit our needs. Its syntax is documented, it is about as complicated as a more complicated GDL object.

This assumes a simple company template that has all the font & color stuff preset, which is referenced here as "KA-Blank" schedule. The attached screen shot shows the screen you can set that up in. It's for formatting and appearance only, there is nothing else in the template file.
I use the interactive schedules to show cost analysis and schedules for finishes and windows and doors. i also do wall schedules to figure the amount of sheetrock and trim is needed in a house. it works well for me and i just modify the info that is there already to help me do what i need.
