Tekla BIMsight - free IFC collaboration software

Tekla announced a new product which is similar to Navisworks. It is called BIMsight and it is a collaboration tool based on the IFC format as far as I can tell.

As I can see from the below comparison to Navisworks, it has less features and handles less file formats but it is free.

I am wondering how much impact can a product like this make in Navisworks' territory.

That's a bit troubling. Did you open the IFC in another viewer program to see if the problem is with the import or export?

Imported the IFC into AC again and apparently the problem slabs were converted to objects. The ones that remained as slabs had no problem with the curved edge. Aparently the problem ones were part of SEO's

Eduardo,
Could you send the files involved to me?
I was contacted by the developers of Tekla BIMSight that they would like to look at the file so they can fix any bug.

Does this Superuser use a phone boot to change from a regular user? Is he faster than a speeding bullet?

I've been putting it through the paces and am very impressed. The feature set is somewhat limited but it does what it needs to and I understand that there will be many improvements to come.

It is remarkably robust and fast. I have so far loaded up the complete architectural model for a large hospital with no significant impact on performance. I have not tried loading the complete model with all the trades. I expect this will at least slow it down a bit. I'll post back what I find.

This program is a big deal. I can't wait to use it on my new projects.

Haven't looked at it yet. Is it more than a viewer? Does it do collision detection, for example?

Cheers,
Link.

Haha! No, this specific specimen is metamorphosed into an eternal super-user, complete with tight leggings and a shiny cape.
