i have run out of custom text fields in an archicad 13 schedule, how can i add more?

or can i change one of the current fields so it will let me type in custom text?

just to add, i have looked through the help section within archicad for hours and it does not say how to change fields from numbers to text or both - some of the things it tells me in help (which seem to be what i am looking for) do not say HOW/WHERE to open the dialogue box it is describing!!!! ARGHHH!!!!

now sorted, i added some user defined fields from additional paramaters, by going through the directory tree to the door.

as i always bang on about, these schedules are completely OTT complicated to set up - and i am an IT expert. how are normal pc users are expected to work this out? well they dont, they just fudge the schedule by sticking loads of texts and fills over it in the layout and hope that the magic schedule fairy (i.e. me) will come and sort it later.

Would you like to post a screen shot of the problem?

percybigun,
I'm having the same problem, but I'm using zone objects not doors. Could you tell me how you opened these objects to affect their parameters to add custom fields?

thanks much for the help!

You'll find the available parameters for data entry in the object settings dialog itself (usually). You can set the values there, or - once the schedule is set up - in the schedule itself.

Attached is a screenshot of one of the standard zone stamps from the US 15 library showing the user defined text fields available for scheduling...

Edit: of course, the other fields you see in the screenshot can be scheduled, too...

...and here is how you add them (and other fields) to your schedule. From the schedule Scheme Settings dialog, click the Additional Parameters button as shown and select a library part typical of the group of parts being scheduled. (Note that modeling elements to NOT have any extra data associated with them - a long time wish.)

Hope the attached helps. Once you have added these extra text fields, you can just type in additional info in the schedule itself. Note that double clicking the header (among other ways) lets you give the column in the schedule a meaningful header for the content you intend to place there.

Cheers,
Karl

Thanks Karl, that worked perfectly.
However, it worked great because I didn't need more custom fields than the combined 20 or so that these two methods provided. What if I needed to create more custom fields from scratch, say within the "General" parameters list?

The only way (AFAIK) to add more fields is to modify the objects being scheduled and add the fields there. That carries its own burden (e.g., when GS releases a library update).

Cheers,
Karl
