Autotext in Publisher / Merged folder shortcut to PDF

NateLumen

Here's a question: I am using the publisher to create multiple multi-page PDFs. I have each PDF in one publisher set and have selected "Merge to one PDF file" at the bottom. This is great, so far. The question is, if I wanted to name each *multi-page PDF* with autotext....is that possible? If I select "Rename Items" I get the option to rename each layout in the set with autotext, but if I select "Rename Folders", I don't get this option.

Looking for something like YYMMDD-Project Name-Folder Name (date being today's date). How would you do this?

Thanks!

What happens if you manually type the autotext that you want?

i.e. <SHORTDATE>

You can't add autotext from a list, but you can type it.

Here is a list somewhere of the autotext commands.

I don't think it is possible. The way I name my single merged PDF files when I publish them is to change the name (date) of the file at the publisher set properties dialogue box. It doesn't solve your problem but you can have the back end of the file named the first time you do it, then just manually change the date before I publish each set.

It doesn't work at the file naming level. 😥

I just tried (version 22).

Seems to work fine.

And the published file ...

Yes at the Rename folder level, not at the Publisher name level.

it does if the folder is a shortcut from the layout book. my DA set for example, is as follows:

<YEARSHORT><MONTHNUMBER><DAYOFMONTH> - <PROJECTNAME> - <PROJECT_DESCRIPTION>

MitchD_0-1745887805020.png

ArchiCAD 28 /// Win 11 Pro - Ultra 7 155H - 32GB RAM - RTX 4060 8GB /// Win 11 Pro - i7 12700 - 64GB RAM - RTX 3070 Ti 8GB

OK.

The original poster said he was renaming folders.

I never save as a single file, always as 'real folder structure'.

Then I don't have to give the file a name, it comes from the publisher folder structure.

Interesting to see the different approaches to achieve an outcome. Coming from someone that saves all of their PDF's as a single file from the front dialogue!

Thanks @Barry Kelly! This is the trick I was looking for.
