A bit of a complicated question for the Hive Mind:
is there a way i can grab the Building Material ID to be called up in a Label?
we've been able to use the same methodology by calling up the Codes in the Surfaces using a Split command in the Properties.
We'd like to use the Property Manager in a similar way to call up the Building Material ID. an added complexity to this is that we'd like to use it in Composite Walls.

I see where you are going and yes, best option is to use Archicad label (gdl) not properties.
If you open the label and change the last loop to just 1, it will just give you the outside BMAT. (you can also use reverse option to report the other side as well)

Yes, you can add the components through the skin list label (built-in Archicad)
Unfortunately, Archicad property can't reach the component level of information. (what you see from the drop-down menu is what you get) thus it has to be done through GDL request process.

you're right.
so i can't exactly just grab the BM ID of the outside & NOT use the Skin List Label?
I'm more than happy to use Properties. or does that involve abit of GDL / complex Properties scripting?

Good idea!
It would be great if we can have a number parameter in the interface to select which skin you want to show!
Is it possible ?

I made a related wish back in 2018 for composites.
@Josh Verran made a relate wish back in 2020 for surfaces.
Maybe they will address this by AC35 much like many of the other wishes for things that should be simple... Once they finish trying to integrate features for all the different consultants who would rather use their own dedicated software...

Well done job, Kevin! helps a lot in labelling the 2D Details with the building material description and properties (if extended with a little GDL effort). Thanks a lot!
