DWG from acad - standard general notes sheet and symbols?

So...helping out a possible new comer to Archicad.
He's a one man office. real nice guy.
starting to get involved in BIM and was wondering.
He has standard general notes and symbols sheets in acad2011.
I know that I can bring in DWGs simply by dragging and dropping them into a "workset" view let's say and then adding that workset viewmap to the actual layout.

But...my question is do I do it that way or...do I simply copy/paste his entire general notes sheet inside of the archicad PLN file and have it there in the native archicad format?

Another quicker compromise is to simply open the .dwg files and re-save them to .pln

Then place it as an externally linked .pln file rather than to a .dwg file

This way, at least if they need to edit the old symbol/notes, they remain in a native format. Often the diameter and square symbols from old AutoCad drawings import differently into ArchiCad.

thank you for you suggestion.
i've found that a simple "xref attach" (which by the way, how the heck did Graphisoft ever code an xref attach function I'll never know but...) the xref attach allows me to leave the DWG file intact. if others in the office feel it easier to edit a DWG rather than a PLN file....so be it.
makes my life easier too. I thank you for your comment.
