Here is something new in AC20..how do I disable that arrow [blue triangle] from the dimension line?

Maybe you have pointer turned on in your settings? I have never seen this before with the text displayed next to it.

(I am sure you have prolly checked this already, but thought I should mention it.)

Yes it is the pointer that can automatically appear when you move the text away from the spot it is dimensioning.
It can be turned off - see image.
