Drawing titles

90% of the time, I do not want titles on the drawings i place on my layouts. AC 8 had a function under preferences, where you could choose whether plotmaker automatically appended titles to newly placed drawings.

I miss this function in AC 10 (never worked with 9). Have been told that if I place my first drawing on a layout, and choose "no title" from drawing settings, that subsequently placed drawings will not have a title. This does not work for me. Has anyone else had any experience of this and know the solution?

In theory you should be able to set the defaults for drawings, via the Drawing Tool, just like any other tool. But I have had some complaints from a coworker that drawings are not holding their defaults. And I had a problem where drawing tool favorites would lose my title settings. I have not tested this thoroughly with the lasted hotfix.

You should chose 'no title' before you place your first drawing. It sounds like you are selecting 'no title' with the drawing selected after you place it?

AFAIK there is no true tool defaults in AC - a tool is only as good as its last settings without any elements selected.

It would be good if there was somewhere you could create true defaults for all your tools - changing settings creates a temporary default with a reset option to go back to the true defaults. I guess this should be a Project Preference setting rather than a Work Environment one

You are right Owen. I tried to change it after I had placed the drawing. How do I get to that setting before I place the drawing?

And I too would love true tool defaults....

There is a DRAWING tool in the toolbar for which you can set the defaults just the same as any of the other tools.

Aha thanks
Getting a little closer to the solution.....but now the title bit is grey so I cannot choose "no title".

But.....persistency pays off.....found the solution. Was not in layout book. Have now discovered lots of uses for that new tool.
