Grid tool and section marker display in section windows

I have been playing with some of the new feature in 10 and have a few questions that I have not been able to figure out. It appears that the view of the grid lines in the sect/elev window is controled individually within the setting dialog for each sect/elev window. This however is confusing, since some of these controls are adjusted by selecting the grid lines and using the grid line settings. Does anyone know of a way to make changes globally to all (or selected) sect/elev windows. I am having trouble figuring out how the grid lines is placed vertically relative to the position of the model. Without making any changes to the default setting the gird lines were placed 50 - 100' below my zero elevation of story one.

In addition I have tried to find the control which will allow me to see my section markers in the sect/elev window but have been unsuccessful. A search of the help menu and the manual has not helped. I recall that this was supposedly implemented in 10 and am excited about the feature. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Gabor,

Thanks for having a sense of humor about this. I got a good laugh about your Autodesk remark.

I'm just starting my first cup of coffee so I'm not clear on your solution. Are you saying it would just be easier to put in my own dimensions with the dimension tool instead of having the grid tool do it? I can live with that but I also think the grid tool should allow for manually moving the strings and leaving them there instead of pushing them back to the "first generation of the S/E" location.

I suggest to go with your manual dimension chain, until this issue is resolved.

Has this tool been updated yet? What about the Section markers showing in section/elevation?

Both of these would be amazing time-savers if they work.

For anyone out there still having problems...

Although this tool was updated with the latest hotfix (966), I was still having problems adjusting the vertical location of the grids within the SE window. I followed Mike Hann's method to no avail. What finally did work was selecting and dragging the grids with the marquee (selection/drag with the arrow did not work) -- LJY.

CLARIFICATION: dragging did not work, but stretching did.

I may have missed this somewhere in this thread...I cannot turn off dimensions in the section/elevation windows. They are turned off in the grid systems settings panel (box in unchecked), and they do not show up in the plan views. I've been able to adjust everything else in the sect/elev windows just as I like, but every time I erase the auto-dimensions they just come back when I reopen the window.
Am I just missing a basic setting here?

The Dimensions can be turned off in the SE Marker dialog box; HOWEVER, I recently discovered that if I change any other parameter within this dialog, THE DIMENSIONS RESET TO "ON" (the checkmark re-appears in the box) -- so just make sure it's the last parameter you set -- LJY

Yes -- the original one won't load with the 966 hotfix -- LJY

Grid tool itsel has been updated. It has nothing to do with new hotfix.

At first I thought, "Hey, wait. There is no dimension option in the SE marker dialog box...", and then, duh!, it occured to me that I could enhance the dialog panel view options of the SE marker much like I just learned to do with the grid tool (thanks, gkovacsp). Voila! (and merci.)
