Multiple Layout books an AC10

Ok, lets say I need to provide 2 sets of drawings for Resource Consent & Building consent - can I make the equivalent of 2 Plotmaker files in AC10 or must I make two AC10 files?

EDIT: Please note that Details Markers aren't an issue here. All I need is two separate layout books, & separate numbering for each. i.e. BC has Pages 1-8 and then RC has 1-6 (and all of this in one AC10 file).
What I don't want is BC having 1-8, and then RC having 9-15.

you can create two drawing series within the layout book hierarchy, however you would need to recreate your layouts for each drawing series.

typically though, you would split the drawing series between the 'sketch design' phase and the 'building documentation' phase (of which resource and building consent a both a part) because the distinction between those two phases is usually quite different in terms of the style and content of the drawings.

why have a resource consent and building consent set of drawings? one is a more detailed, natural progression of the other . . .

what you could (and probably should) do is archive the project at the point resource consent drawings are issued. also, make PDF archives of each revision of drawings issued along with a PDF booklet of major issue milestones . . . keep the layouts themselves live and rolling . . .

How do you make two series?

There is two sets, because of a change in the landscaping. we've gone over the maximum earthworks allowance and need RC.

What do you mean by 'recreate your layouts for each drawing series'? i want to have auto numbering...

We usually have a prelim, then BC. (RC in between as separate file only if req'd)

create subsets within the layout hierarchy. each subset can have it's own unique numbering system that its siblings inherit . . .

where are you based in new zealand?

if you create two layout books, or even two subsets, each for resource and building consent you will need to duplicate some of the resource consent drawings into the building consent set - you'll need to maintain two layouts each containing similar - if not identical - content . . .

cut down the work: archive the project file and use the publisher to create 'milestone' drawing archives at each phase . . .

We do create milestone archives, this is a one off!

Now, how do I get the autotext label showing total number of sheets to have an independent number for each subset?

Based in Wellington, y'know the city that is sooo much better than Christchurch?

awww....

So you can't have an independent number of sheets for each subset? that sucks.

You can, it just can't be autotext (or more specifically, now that we can add our own autotext entities, auto-calculated)...
