Multiple Pages in Master Layout in AC10

Hey people,

Do you guys remember back in AC9 in Plot Maker in the Settings for Master Layouts there was a command by where you could specify how many pages were going to be present...?

IE. You could say piece together six A4 pages and then place your drawing over it so that if you wanted to plot out something and didn't have access to a A1 plotter; you could essentially "jigsaw" it together via the A4 pages...

However in AC10 under the same section, instead of allowing you to increase the no. of pages, you get instead a matrix / grid table

Does anyone here know how to specify the multiple page feature in AC 10 in Master Layouts ?

Thanks in Advance !!!

Robert

Your signature doesn't have your OS so I don't know if this would work for you but a Utility called FinePrint works great for Windoz.

I did not know about this feature in Plotmaker for AC9.

Set the small paper size ... and it will automatically tile.

Thanks for the replies guys

Djordje - I'm using AC10 1183 for XP and I've heard about this Fine Print program. I'll look into it though ideally I'd hope that I'll find the solution through AC10.

Gerald Hoffman - Er... I don't quite follow... (referring to screen shot) Is this where I'm suppose to change the paper size? Because if I say for example change the paper size to A4, it just reduces the matrix so that it fits on the A4

I guess what I'm confused about is that the whole matrix system... is that just a tool for labelling / documenting drawing numbers or can it be used to manipulate paper size so you can get the jig-saw effect?

Cheers Guys,

Robert

That is a grid for drawing numbering. Think of many details on a sheet. It's not about divvying up a sheet for printing, although you can do what Djordje suggests.

Thanks for the clarification Link.

Hmmm... so I guess really in AC10 its impossible to have multiple pages in a Master Layout...

Its funny because in Plot Maker AC9 you could quite easily specify the number of pages that you would like to have in a Layout. I wonder why you can't do the same in AC10...?

It is possible, by specifying a very large master and sheets of the wanted size, but why? You have the Layout book.

PM 9 made it possible BECAUSE there was no layout book, so it was a way of emulating the layout book in one .lay file

As I recall the Layout Book was introduced with AC8 & PM3, but retained the old (PM2.x) function of multiple sheets (of paper) per layout. It was the incorporation into AC where the feature was dropped.

Djordje, could you please clarify how to do this, I do not understand. I have a need to create a master that has 2xA4 sheets to make up a A3 size.

other way up

set the master/layout size to the size of layout you want (the larger size) and print/publish to whatever paper size you have (smaller) . . . it will tile . . .

(GS have taken away the extra tiling complication and just let the printer handle it...)
