Can you place it as an XREF?
Can you merge it into a clean new file?
Lets figure out if this is a problem with the file itself or with the Drawing Tool.

Thanks,
I can do it in a new file (New and Reset) and it happens with different dwg's.
When I open it with a new file (New and Reset), I can copy and paste it into the file where I want it.
Thanks.

Great.
I would still send this issue to Graphisoft. There must be something going on with the file or with DWG/DXF handling.
You can report it through your reseller or you can send a support package.

I had the same issue and reported it to GS two months ago. Tech support acknowledged and submitted the bug saying "According to the crash report it seems that the issue lies with how the line type of the DWG is translated into the temporary drawing that you see on the screen."

To me, the crashing only occurs when I have my renovation filters set to Override existing, demo, or new elements. If they are at default settings which is Show or Hide, I don't experience any crashes. There may be more specifics within the Override setting (i.e. it only crashes with this box checked/unchecked) but I haven't taken the time to test it further. I just avoid the Override setting until it's fixed hopefully in the next hotfix.

If you try to modify the DWG drawing reference (like modifying/cropping the view boundary) it may freeze then crash.

This has been a real annoying bug because we rely a lot on AutoCAD files for references and by using Xref or merging data into the files, it brings a boatload of unwanted layers if not managed properly.

I am having the same problem. I can "place" a dwg file without causing a crash only when my renovation filter is set without any overrides. This is a really dumb bug. What is the point of a new feature of debatable usefulness (renovation filter) that ruins an existing critical tool (place external dwg)? FAIL.

We can confirm this bug as well for both DWG & PMK when placed in a floor plan view - if any renovation filter is set to Override there is 100% a crash on placement. It is also very likely to crash once a drawing has been placed (i.e without an override active) but then changing to a filter with an override.

With no overrides the same PMK's and DWG's were placed with zero crashes.

Tested in several locations, on multiple machines, both Teamwork and PLN.

This is really a killer bug which needs to be fixed ASAP

OK i've retested and its not ANY filter, just the Existing element filter. Thought i had checked this before.
