I'm trying to load a DWF file into Plotmaker 3.1.0 v1 USA and plotmaker says "PlotMaker cannot read the selected file format". Any ideas? Isn't DWF is a valid format to bring into plotmaker?

Millard,
What version of AutoCAD created the DWF?
Currently, ArchiCAD 8.1 and PlotMaker 3.1 have trouble reading file formats created from AutoCAD 2004. AFAIK, Autodesk has not yet released the open code for AutoCAD 2004 file translation to allow non-Autodesk software vendors the ability to write true direct translators.
You may want to ask the sender of the file to send you another one in an older format.

I believe that you cannot open DWF files in the Plotmaker. By the way, you cannot open DWF files even at AutoCAD 2000 (that is the version that I use. I don´t know about the more recent versions).
That´s because DWF files are generated so that they won´t be changed. Only some plug ins for web browsers can read DWF and they don´t let you change anything.
I may be wrong, but I thing that´s the reason why you cannot open these dwf files.

Hum? According to the GS documentation, you should be able to "Import" ".DWF" files in PlotMaker.
Yes, I find that amusing that full-blown AutoCAD can't even access a file format that is created from AutoCAD.
But seriously, GS needs to remove ".DWF" from the list of importable file formats if it can't be imported. GS, any comment?

David wrote:It depends on the DWF flavour. The ones saved from ArchiCAD are imported flawlessly. I seem to remember that Autodesk changed the DWF format too with 2004.

Have four years of research been time enough for research? 😉 Are there any positive results by importing DWF files? I have none up to AC11.
