Problem of 2D Display by using MEP Add-on

Anonymous
Not applicable
1. Make simple MEP elements consisting of terminator and ducts.

2. Moving terminator while the duct will automatically extend

3. Incorrect final 2D display of the MEP elements. However 3D display is fine as well as the drawings in the layout books.

Please find the self-explained photo. Are there any solution? Is it a bug?

Looks like a bug, Kent. Can you upload a PLA somewhere with just the terminator/ductwork shown in your example so that someone can take a look?

(Nicely annotated screenshots!)

Cheers,

Thank you for your reply. Sorry for unable to upload the simple file as it's larger than the upload limit.

Another disturbing thing is that the computer often crashes when I try to save any model.

It seems that Archicad 16 is quite unstable for my computer.

Yeah, I meant to upload to a some file sharing site - dropbox, for example. File attachments here are limited to quite small sizes.

I haven't had any crashes with the release version of 16. Are you submitting the crash reports when this happens, and following up with a contact to tech support with your bug id / crash number?

Cheers,
Karl

What happens if you move the terminator and the adjoining duct together to the right location, and then lengthen the duct from the far end so it lines up with the elbow?

I had about 6 crashes this morning on Archicad 16. It is VERY unstable. I'm disapointed and the worst is it gets worse when I load my Cadimage Add-ons! Why!!!

Everytime (90%) I save I have this problem...

Sorry just frustated, I did not see any other ACAD16 posts... so I just added to this one...

The Archicad 16 crash problem is solved without installing the "Objective, Cigraph, Cadimage" add-on.

The MEP problem still exists. Please copy the full link in the parentheses, press the download, and save the file for your testing.

Another interesting thing is to save the modified MEP project ,and reopen again. The 2D display of MEP objects is fine again.

I doubt the incorrect 2D MEP display comes from incorrect support of the display card for the Archicad 16.

I have had the same problem with MEP since V14. Depending on the part of the system, it jumps to another storey and I have to go searching for it and place it on the correct storey.

I only rarely use MEP since the HVAC designs that I complete are documented faster using a 2 line layout method. When I do use it for things like modelling septic systems or in-floor radiant I just live with it.

Kent Xiao:

I was able to reproduce your bug with your file. I also crashed the file once (sent Bug Report to Graphisoft). After moving the terminator and seeing it disappear from the 2D Window, I selected the Duct Terminator Tool in the Toolbox and Selected All, the terminator, while invisible, shows up as a selection (the same can be done by using the Edit Select Set command to see the terminator is there). Changing the Floor Plan and Section > Floor Plan Display > Show on Stories setting will get the terminator's 2D display back, but moving it again will repeat the bug. I post this more to help Graphisoft pin point the bug than as a solution to your issue.

Here we are at Version 20 and MEP display is still not fixed. Should I just junk the MEP add-on or is Graphisoft still interested in making their tools work correctly?
