Can someone verify that you can stretch witness lines in R17-3013 US. I am apparently unable to do it.

Works for me in AC 17. GS is recommending that you unload the 3013 hotfix for the US version. Maybe that will help. Actually, reinstall with 3002

They recalled the 3013 patch again? today?

To be sure I am talking about editing only one of the witness lines not both.

Disregard. The procedure to edit it has changed from previous versions.
You have to select the node, click on the dim and then select the 'Edit Witness Line" while before it was select the node, hit your shortcut for the dimension tool and stretch the witness line.

Have to unlearn stuff again.

Well that is the most ridiculous thing I have come across this morning... why add a step?

Let me write this down for anyone who needs it because I myself had difficulty figuring out how it is down exactly:

1. Select the Dimension Tool.
2. a) SHIFT-click to select a node (to be able to change the Witness Line of that single node)
or b) SHIFT-click at the node of the middle of a Dimension Unit (to be able to change the Witness Line on the two ends of the selected Dimension Unit)
or c) SHIFT-click the line of the whole Dimension Chain (if you want all Witness Line lengths to change)

Note: you may swap the first to steps: first you select a node in the Dimension Chain (with a click if you are in the Arrow Tool, SHIFT-click with any other Tools), then switch to the Dimension Tool.

3. Click on the dimension line (cursor is Mercedes shaped, meaning you found an edge, not any node) and select the Edit Length of Witness Line command of the Pet Palette.
4. Drag you mouse to define the new desired length of the selected Witness Line(s).

This is the step that was added in 17 in all previous versions this was not needed.

Is anyone having trouble with this since the latest 5014 update? I can get the pet palette to pop up almost never. "Almost" because it will pop up occasionally 2 or 3 times in a row, then go AWOL again.

Have been dimensioning the past couple of days and stretching without problems on floor plans, have not done any sections/elevs.

Take in consideration that the procedure is finicky and that might be the problem. To refresh the procedure:
  • 1. click on the node
    2. activate de Dim tool
    3. click on the Dim Line
    4. Select the stretch node from the palette if not highlighted

For me it used to be finicky, then persnickety. Now it's just broken. Occasionally I can get it to work if I OPTION-SHIFT click the dim line.
