Wall tiles

What is the easiest method to draw 3D wall tiles? I am doing some bathroom elevations, and want to use tiles to 1800mm, plasterboard above to the ceiling. Using a thin wall, with a tiling pattern might do it but the control line of the tile wall and main wall get mixed up. Trouble with 2D fills is that they have to be shaped around elements sitting against the wall, and then don't show correctly in 3D.

There must be an easier way to put tiles to a partial height without having to add them to each elevation.

Any techniques?

profile walls? If you do the thin extra wall put it on a layer that does not show in plan view, but shows in your sect elevation view. Reference line location can be critical with this technique. Since you are on version 10, profile walls might be ideal for you.

You can make a fill pattern and apply as a vectorial hatch to the wall. This is only useful for line drawings not renderings

What are profile walls?

Wendy, profile walls are new in Archicad 10. You can look in the reference manual starting on page 137. You are now able to define different components of wall from a "profile" or section view of that wall. These can be as complex as you want and different sections of the wall can have different sectional and material properties. These can be used for many things besides walls. I have used this for eaves, stairs and walls. We can also define custom profiles for columns and beams. It takes a little getting used to making the profiles, but after a few tries you can master it. One caveat for me is that if you have placed a profile wall and redefined its height and then edit the profile, the placed wall reverts to the height defined in the profile.
